Abacus is Hiring a Clamp Truck Operator Near Aberdeen, MD
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Clamp Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods and materials over short or long distances while operating a variety of trucks.
Duties:
- Safely operate trucks to transport goods and materials to and from specified locations
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or cherry pickers
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
- Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
Qualifications:
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Proven work experience as a truck driver
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
- Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle maintenance
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, materials handling, and warehouse management systems
- Familiarity with forklift operation for loading/unloading tasks
- Ability to build strong working relationships with warehouse supervisors
